This section is the presentation deck that was used to first introduce Story Listening publicly.

It’s purpose is to:

  • Illustrate the problem of overwhelming amounts of data

  • Set the stage that data visualization can be a useful instrument for that problem

  • Use inspiring examples from everyday experience (music, sports, politics, etc)

  • and call visualization practitioners to add active-listening as a part of their process

It’s been presented to visualization user groups, the analytics teams of some of the largest retail brands in the world, marketing agencies, colleges and universities, business consultants, and C-Suite/executives of government entities. Without fail, the concepts in this presentation have acted as a spark for a deeper understanding of how powerful data visualization can be and why listening should be at the core.
